Rants
Terrorists, Very Old And Very Young
0Rant on.
I went looking for something to rant about this morning, and I didn’t have to look very far. Right there on CNN there was a story about some new TSA abuse. They forced a ninety-five-year-old woman to remove her adult diaper. No, you didn’t read that wrong. What’s worse, they stand by what they did, as if there’s even an iota of justice in it. The TSA issued a statement per the above linked article:
“While every person and item must be screened before entering the secure boarding area, TSA works with passengers to resolve security alarms in a respectful and sensitive manner. We have reviewed the circumstances involving this screening and determined that our officers acted professionally and according to proper procedure.”
What the hell is “sensitive” about stripping an old woman of her dignity? What kind of procedure is acceptable which allows for this kind of thing? Are there that many terrorists running around over the age of ninety?
Sadly, this is not the worst thing they have done recently. The TSA also felt terrorists were hiring six-year-olds to do their dirty work, so they gave a child of that age a full pat-down. This is absurd and obscene. Why the hell are the employees of the TSA allowed to do these things?
Look, it’s simple. The security procedures used by the TSA do not need to be applied to people like this. They are, by and large, people in an age range of about eighteen to thirty-ish. Sure, there are some who are older, but the terrorists who live past thirty–and I phrase it that way because terrorist, as a profession, does not allow for a particularly long lifespan–tend to be directing the younger set to complete suicide missions rather than engaging in said missions themselves. Sure, if you go to some parts of the world, you’ll find suicidal terrorists who are younger and older than that range, but you’re not going to find six-year-olds or great-great-grandmothers doing it. I’ll allow there are kids and older folks in this country who might engage in acts of violence, but again we’re not talking pre-teens or grandparents.
So let’s get a better head on the TSA shoulders. Seriously, the abuse has gone too far several times over. The above incidents demonstrate this as clearly as it can be demonstrated. Contact your congressperson and call for an end to the TSA.
Rant off.
