Masks

I’d like to wear
A mask each day
Hide who I am
Be who I want to be
To change my appearance
In the wink of an eye
Fool everyone who sees
I’m a different kind of guy
But the masks I wear
Fool no one at all
They see who I am
Or don’t see me at all
Perhaps in some future
Near or far
I’ll find my masks
But for now
Here I am.

I watched Surrogates last night with Bruce Willis.  If you’ve not seen it, it’s a science fiction thriller in which people mostly live through robot bodies called surrogates.  The concept is you lay back on chair or bed or whatever with an electronic gizmo which essentially reads your mind, or at least the part which controls your body.  That data is sent to your surrogate, which looks very human but not necessarily like you.  I personally think this would be a neat thing, but in the movie it’s overwhelmingly become a way of life.  Anyway, it inspired today’s poem.

Meanwhile, I missed my Nothing Day post again.  We had an important visitor yesterday and the day before at work–my boss’ boss–so laptops were not allowed.

I mentioned my monitor issues last week and they continue.  The next step is to try connecting my problem Displayport port to a monitor and have it be the only connected monitor port.  I will try to do that tonight.  I am expecting to spend most of the day away from the house trying to get my scooter serviced, finally getting the electrical problem which drains the batter fixed.

I was not successful in flashing my router last week.  By that I mean I could not flash it at all.  I have tried and have not given up yet, but so far I am somewhere missing an important instruction I think.

That’s all for this week.  See you Monday!
