{"id":188,"date":"2010-11-10T08:05:09","date_gmt":"2010-11-10T15:05:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.shadowkatmandu.net\/?p=188"},"modified":"2010-11-10T08:05:09","modified_gmt":"2010-11-10T15:05:09","slug":"wednesday-wanderings-types-of-labs-magnitude-names-heartwarming-story-etc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/blog.shadowkatmandu.net\/?p=188","title":{"rendered":"Wednesday Wanderings (Types of Labs, Magnitude Names, Heartwarming Story, etc.)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The internet is an equalizing place until you want to <a title=\"Mac vs. PC\" href=\"http:\/\/bash.org\/?699308\" target=\"_blank\">talk about your computer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I have always wondered if the family dog of my youth was really a black lab.\u00a0 Apparently, there&#8217;s <a title=\"Types of Labs\" href=\"http:\/\/custom-figure.com\/kinds-of-labs.html\" target=\"_blank\">a type of lab I hadn&#8217;t thought<\/a> of which, in retrospect, describes him quite well.<\/p>\n<p>This is not an accurate <a title=\"I want a Yo Mama byte.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.lukesurl.com\/archives\/1146\" target=\"_blank\">chart of the magnitude names<\/a>, but it is funny in the end.<\/p>\n<p>Have you ever received a story in your email that was so heartwarming it made you want to gag?\u00a0 Well, here&#8217;s <a title=\"The Man and the Elephant\" href=\"http:\/\/9gag.com\/gag\/41849\/\" target=\"_blank\">another <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">bullshit<\/span> heartwarming story<\/a> like that, only better.<\/p>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know if I would go so far as to say I am a Trekkie or Trekker, but I do like the various incarnations of <em>Star Trek<\/em>.\u00a0 That makes <a title=\"Star Trek set pictures\" href=\"http:\/\/community.livejournal.com\/ontd_startrek\/1331843.html\" target=\"_blank\">this collection of images<\/a> very cool.<\/p>\n<p>My humor is twisted, sometimes as bad or worse than <a title=\"Twisty tracks\" href=\"http:\/\/blognator.com\/strangely-bended-rails-after-new-zealand-earthquake\/\" target=\"_blank\">these railroad tracks<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder what kind of peripherals <a title=\"Gingerbread Motherboard\" href=\"http:\/\/compare-network-monitoring-tools.com\/Gingerbread-Motherboard.html\" target=\"_blank\">this motherboard<\/a> would support&#8230;a USB (Unlimited Sugar Butt) port, maybe?<\/p>\n<p>In the last few years, <a title=\"Cosplay\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Cosplay\" target=\"_blank\">&#8220;cosplay&#8221; (costume play)<\/a> has become very popular.\u00a0 Originally a manga \/ anime thing, it has stretched into other fiction varieties.\u00a0 And now somebody has given <a title=\"Just Cos play\" href=\"http:\/\/www.canucklehead.ca\/look\/just-cos.html\" target=\"_blank\">new meaning to the word &#8220;cosplay&#8221;<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I have always enjoyed the comic strip <em>Boondocks<\/em>, although I confess I haven&#8217;t read it lately.\u00a0 Still, it&#8217;s known for <a title=\"Why people attack video game makers\" href=\"http:\/\/www.animepodcast.org\/d\/waronvideogames\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">making an interesting point<\/a> from time to time.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of video games, I have finally learned <a title=\"Run, Pac-man, run!\" href=\"http:\/\/www.funny-city.com\/cartoons\/real-life-pacman.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">why Pac-Man works so hard to get away from the ghosts<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>At last, we have <a title=\"Excalibwahahaha\" href=\"http:\/\/www.threadless.com\/submission\/292798\/Excalibwahahaha\" target=\"_blank\">the real reason the sword was so hard to pull from the stone<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder if the laser pointer in <a title=\"Bob cats who shamelessly chase laser pointers\" href=\"http:\/\/theoatmeal.com\/blog\/bobcats\" target=\"_blank\">this strip about cats named Bob (&#8220;bobcats&#8221;)<\/a> is suing for harassment.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s rare when you see <a title=\"Sonic the kitty?\" href=\"http:\/\/oddstuffmagazine.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/07\/i-have-you-now.gif\" target=\"_blank\">a cat catch their prey<\/a> so amusingly.<\/p>\n<p>Literal meanings of Firefox have been done over and over, so I enjoyed finding a couple other <a title=\"I want to see Scotch Tape.\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myextralife.com\/comic\/literal\/\" target=\"_blank\">software names literally interpreted<\/a> as well.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, we turn to Cliff and Norm for <a title=\"Beer raises your intelligence.  No, really.\" href=\"http:\/\/175proof.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/09\/image001.jpg\" target=\"_blank\">an important explanation<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The internet is an equalizing place until you want to talk about your computer.
