The Sauder Twist<\/p>\n

<\/strong>It looks like a screw
\nAnd you turn it like one
\nAnd when you do
\nYour furniture’s more done<\/p>\n

But it’s not a screw
\nNot even a bolt or nut
\nIt’s a weird little fastener
\nIn your furniture’s gut<\/p>\n

I call that little turn
\nThat twist of the not-a-screw
\nThe Sauder Twist
\nIt’s what you gotta do<\/p>\n

The furniture giant
\nPuts this thing in all they make
\nIt works pretty good
\nFor every assembly’s sake<\/p>\n

So if you have something new
\nMake sure you build it right
\nDo the Sauder Twist
\nEven if it takes all night!<\/p>\n

I spent most of yesterday building my new desk.\u00a0 It’s Sauder, and I have long appreciated the weird little fasteners they use.\u00a0 I don’t know if they’re really in everything<\/em> they make, but I know their desks have them at least.\u00a0 They are better in my new desk than in previous things I have put together.\u00a0 The design is different and the principle has changed, but the way they work has not:\u00a0 Give it a quarter to half turn and you have securely fashioned two pieces.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the multi-monitor stand I got did not work.\u00a0 Sadly, I ordered the wrong thing.\u00a0 The one I got is designed for 19″ monitors and I have 24″ ones.\u00a0 I will be contacting the company I bought it from through Amazon as they sell what I do need for about sixty dollars more than what I paid.\u00a0 The only difference appears to be in the arms; I am hoping I can package them up and exchange only them for a fee.<\/p>\n

I have one more piece to put together for my desk.\u00a0 I am sore all over from deconstructing my old desk and constructing my new one, but this one piece–the cabinet\u00a0 door–is unfinished due to a design flaw.\u00a0 There are two hinge piece things which need to be attached to one side.\u00a0 They come with two screws each.\u00a0 The business ends of these screws are flat and wider than the holes they are supposed to go into, making it difficult at best to get them to work.\u00a0 I will make it happen, but it will take more elbow grease.\u00a0 Sigh.<\/p>\n
