So Sad The Moon<\/strong><\/p>\n

So sad the moon
\nSuch a friend of the sun
\nThey play now and then
\nAnd have such fun<\/p>\n

But nobody notices
\nWhen they’re together for a few
\nThey see only the sun
\nAnd it makes the moon blue<\/p>\n

It’s true that he is setting
\nWhen she is on the rise
\nBut he is still visible
\nWith the tears that he cries<\/p>\n

The moon rules the night
\nAnd the sun rules the day
\nJust ask anyone
\nAnd that’s what they’ll say<\/p>\n

Few will recognize
\nEven less understand
\nLuna is out in the daylight
\nHolding Sol’s hand<\/p>\n

So the next time you’re out
\nIn the morn or early eve’ing
\nLook for the moon
\nAnd don’t leave him grieving<\/p>\n

If he’s not there when you look
\nDon’t give up too soon
\nTry another time to see
\nSo sad the moon<\/p>\n

I couldn’t find a poll about it, but I know there are people out there who think the moon is not out during the daytime. I found a Yahoo! Answers question, in fact, which asked why the moon did not come out during the day. The answer was that it did, of course, but you have to look for it. I don’t know why, but I thought about this odd little misunderstanding about the moon and decided to write a poem about it, thinking it might make the moon sad if (1) it had feelings and (b) it recognized it was ignored during the day.<\/p>\n

Of course, if it’s sad about being ignored, I wonder how it feels about the moon landing hoax people? A little over a decade ago Gallup ran a poll and found 6% of Americans and 25% of the British thought the landings were faked. The hoax “evidence” has been addressed again and again and again, and yet people still buy into it. Sigh.<\/p>\n
