Taste of True Love<\/strong><\/p>\n


\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

I entered the room
\nYou were standing there
\nWe looked through each other
\nNeither of us could care<\/p>\n

Later we met
\nIntroduced by friends
\nExchanged pleasantries
\nThought that would be the end<\/p>\n

Such was not fate
\nFor then we met once more
\nOur transparency fled
\nWe could not ignore<\/p>\n

The next time was for lunch
\nAfter that we had a date
\nOur attraction grew
\nAnd we called it fate<\/p>\n

Our passions ignited
\nAs young lovers do
\nYou fell for me
\nI fell for you<\/p>\n

Was it destiny?
\nOur love felt so strong
\nThe only thing we knew
\nIt could not be wrong<\/p>\n

But then you met him
\nAnd I met her
\nWhich came first?
\nIt’s such a blur<\/p>\n

Suddenly there was
\nNo time for each other
\nThen we were labeled
\n“My former lover”<\/p>\n

But still there was something
\nNeither could define
\nFrom lover to lover
\nOn each other’s mind<\/p>\n

One day we were adrift
\nLost, alone in a crowd
\nWe saw each other
\nOur hearts cried out loud<\/p>\n

We tried to deny it
\nPretended it was fake
\nWe made love once more
\nFor old times’ sake<\/p>\n

That’s how it went
\nEach time we met
\nWe would say aloud
\nAfter this, we’ll forget<\/p>\n

The months passed
\nAfter those, the years
\nWe loved no one else
\nCried fewer tears<\/p>\n

But neither did we
\nAcknowledge our heart
\nLoving one another
\nYet still living apart<\/p>\n

Now we are older
\nOur lifetimes, wasted
\nWe could have had more
\nOf the love we once tasted<\/p>\n

I felt like writing a sad love poem, so there it is.<\/p>\n

Sorry I missed posting yesterday.\u00a0 Sixteen hours of overtime a week is tasty but does interfere with, well, a lot of things.\u00a0 It also leaves me with less to write about on Nothing Day anyway.\u00a0 Most significant thing is the arrival of my new monitor, which I like a lot.\u00a0 I only have three issues, and two of those aren’t a problem with the monitor.<\/p>\n

The one issue with the monitor is sometimes the power button won’t exactly work.\u00a0 It’s an HP monitor, and some engineers apparently felt that somebody might accidentally hit the power button and cause a disaster.\u00a0 So they put a “lockout” feature on it.\u00a0 It doesn’t happen every time, but sometimes when I try to turn it off–and at least once when I tried to turn it on–I got a message saying “Power button lockout.”\u00a0 The only way around it is to hold the power button for fifteen seconds or so.<\/p>\n

Secondary to that but far more annoying is the inability of my second video card’s Displayport port to put out an image.\u00a0 The new monitor has a Displayport input, but I couldn’t get an image using either that or an active Displayport to DVI adapter, the same kind of thing I am using with my first video card.\u00a0 I have contacted ATI about this, but no response yet.<\/p>\n

The third issue is a Windows thing.\u00a0 If I play a video or put EQ on my new monitor, Windows decides it’s low on memory or something and turns off its eye candy mode.\u00a0 I have mentioned this issue before, but am getting more annoyed with it.\u00a0 Time to contact Microsoft, I guess.\u00a0 I have installed SP1, but apparently this is an SP which doesn’t actually fix<\/em> anything, it’s mostly just a collection of the patches to Windows 7 since its release.\u00a0 Bah.<\/p>\n

One last bit:\u00a0 I was remoted into my home computer a couple of days ago from work earlier this week.\u00a0 It was Password Change day, so I was changing all of my home passwords.\u00a0 This included my router password.\u00a0 A co-worker happened to walk past as I was closing out of the router’s screen, and he mentioned something interesting.\u00a0 There’s some freeware out there which is designed to enhance a router’s functionality.\u00a0 I found what he was talking about easy enough and downloaded the version for my router.\u00a0 There is, of course, the possibility this will “brick” my router–make it non-functional–so I have not yet tried it.\u00a0 I waited until today as today is my day off.\u00a0 If it turns out to be a bad idea, I can go get a new router and not be offline for more than an hour or so.\u00a0 I’ll let you know next week how it works out.<\/p>\n
