Last week I mentioned I got pulled over by a cop while riding my scooter in the middle of the night, and he gave me a ticket.\u00a0 The reason for the ticket–which I didn’t want to mention then–was my driver’s license had been suspended for non-payment of child support.\u00a0 I’ll start by saying this is a dumb law because if you take away somebody’s license, it becomes harder for them to have a job to earn money to pay the child support they lost the license for not paying.\u00a0 On a personal bright side, I got my license reinstated yesterday.\u00a0 I have been paying my child support, there was just a hiccup in payments when I went from a contractor to a full employee at my job.<\/p>\n

Then there’s me getting pulled over in the first place.\u00a0 I am curious to know what the cop would have done if I had had a valid license in the first place.\u00a0 It was midnight, the cop and I were about the only ones out on the road I was on, and my scooter just won’t go any faster than it was going on the hill I was pulled over on.\u00a0 There’s no “minimum” speed limit posted.\u00a0 What was he gonna do?\u00a0 Sigh.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, he has left me with a concern.\u00a0 He took my physical license away.\u00a0 Although I am reinstated, the state is mailing me my new license.\u00a0 If I don’t get that before my Indiana trip in two weeks, how do I get past security at the airport?\u00a0 I have a “paper” license, but that does not have a photo on it.\u00a0 If I don’t get the license by this coming Tuesday, I will be calling the airport to find out what I should do.\u00a0 I can’t imagine my situation is unique.\u00a0 I am certain there are often travelers who physically lose their license–with or without cops involved–shortly before travel and then have to wait for a new one to be sent to them.\u00a0 Maybe not daily, but, knowing people, I am sure it happens a few times a month at least.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, I had last Saturday off of work.\u00a0 This turned out to be a Triple Fail:\u00a0 RenFest date # 1 had something come up.\u00a0 RenFest date # 2 had to work.\u00a0 Lastly, the girl I have wanted to go out with at 7-11 for a long time said she might go to a Karaoke thing with me, but never even called to say she couldn’t make it.\u00a0 Sigh.<\/p>\n

On the bright side, one of my EverQuest friends is in town, more or less.\u00a0 Technically, she’s up north in another town, but she and her family will be coming down to the Springs tomorrow along with a female friend of theirs from Aurora.\u00a0 It’ll be kind of a blind date, although I have briefly chatted with my friend’s friend via Yahoo once.\u00a0\u00a0 We’ll be going out to eat and to the zoo and, if I can talk them into it, a few other places.\u00a0 As usual, I have high hopes and low expectations.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Sony has done a couple of things in EverQuest which makes people like me rejoice.\u00a0 First, they expanded the size of “fellowships.”\u00a0 A fellowship is a permanent group you can create in the game.\u00a0 It offers some odd little benefits which, until yesterday, were just odd little benefits.\u00a0 Yesterday, they added a new benefit, neither odd nor little:\u00a0 Characters in a fellowship can receive melee kill xp from others in fellowship, whether or not they are grouped with them or even if they’re offline!\u00a0 For example, when my main characters–even just one of them–goes out and kills mobs and gains experience from that killing, everyone in the fellowship gains experience as well, even if they are not in the game.\u00a0 In this way, I can slowly level up my many alts.\u00a0 They don’t get a lot of experience from this–it’s not the same as being in group–but it’s still good.<\/p>\n

That’s probably more than enough for now.\u00a0 I have had some other good things happen in EverQuest–Boom and Dan are both now Tier 3-flagged for the HoT, my current baby trio hit a small but important milestone, I am close to having good gear for all of my alts–but nothing worth going into a lot of detail on.\u00a0 I will have a happy little verse tomorrow.\u00a0 See you then.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
