The Cat

It’s easy to see grace
To see a certain regal flair
In their aloof poise
That somehow captures the soul
I understand well
How maligned they have been
For stealing the hearts
Of those who have known them
They brook no argument
They have the courage of the curious
Beauty is in their eyes
Danger is in their claws
Trust them not, for they know how to pounce
Love them deeply, for they know how to return it
Many animals I have known
Human and otherwise
Above them all, on a high pedestal
The feline is perched
Accepting adoration well deserved

I was looking for inspiration and looked over and saw Sylvie, my Russian Blue, perched atop an old cat tower we have.  She wasn’t doing anything more than sitting there, but she looked so regal, and thus I was inspired to write today’s poem.

That’s it for now.  See you Monday.
