Friday Poetry — Holidaze
Holidaze
Somewhere in the world
People are dancing in the street
Celebrating a holiday
One I might never meet
Every day of the year
And I do mean every one
Is special for some place somewhere
A reason to have fun
It’s Army Day in Armenia
I bet they’ll have parades
It’s three Feast Days as well
Which can be done with lemonades
So celebrate the day
No matter where you might be
Every day is a holiday
Sunny, bright and free!

It really is Army Day in Armenia. I look up most days in Wikipedia just to find out what holiday it is somewhere, and then I wish my son or daughter (via chat or texting) a happy whichever holiday it is. I always have several choices. Armenian Army Day sounds particularly interesting to me, and I am betting they really do have parades, but I don’t know for sure.
I did not yet raise my monitors, by the way. I expected to have my last contractor paycheck direct deposited on Wednesday, but since it’s my last pay from them my agency cut a physical check. That meant I should have been paid yesterday, but the blizzard in the east has held that check hostage. Unfortunately for me and a few dozen other folks, they don’t run paychecks locally. So I am not spending anything more than I have to.
Anyway, that’s all I have for this week. See you on Monday.
