Friday Poetry — Alone But With You
Alone But With You
I stand alone
Here in my life
All I desire
Is a wife
Not by law
That matters not
But a shared love
For which I fought
I thought it was you
And hope I still hold
But it seems not to be
You seem so cold
I want a love
I can share with the world
It makes me so sad
You’re not that kind of girl
You like to hold me
With the lightest touch
Held by your side
But not by much
You take all I’ll give
And give so little back
It’s a painful and different
Kind of heart attack
And so here I stay
Straining to move on
I hope our love grows
Or is forever gone

What is it about the ABCB rhyme scheme in poetry that I find so attractive? I don’t know, but it’s my “fallback” style when I only want to put forth a minimal effort. Anyway, there’s my little poem for today. See you Monday.
