Friday Poetry — Eggs Act Changed, Please!
0Eggs Act Change, Please!
When I was a child
Language was so confusing
My ears would hear
But comprehension was refusing
Once I got on a bus
And my mama, she said
“Eggs Act Changed, Please!”
That’s what I heard in my head
She was reading a sign
We have all seen before
It was bizarre to me
At the age of four
Later on in life
I knew what was meant
I read it myself
I didn’t need a hint
But still later on
I came to conclude
The sign was quite wrong
And a bit rude
In our journey through life
No change is ever exact
Whether it’s leftover coins
Or a difference we enact
So I went into old age
Never accepting precision
Forever feeling exact change
Was the poorest decision
Bus drivers would yell
Toll booth operators frowned
But I remained happy
All frowns upside downed
When finally I passed
I was surprised to find
No pearly gates, no hellish fires
Nothing of the kind
You may know what I saw
An army of eggs so vast
All acting changed
And having an imprecise blast!

I hope you enjoyed my silly poetry today. No, I never really misinterpreted an “exact change” sign, but eggs / ex is one of my favorite syllables to make puns from. See you next week.
