Nothing Day! (Oops!, Weather, Conversation with Ex, Virtual Updates)
0Oops! I completely spaced posting yesterday’s Wanderings. I didn’t have a whole lot to post, but thirty minutes of Stumbling would have fixed that. I will try to have a double week next week to make up for it.
I might use the weather as an excuse, as it has been distracting. Colorado Springs weather is typically mild, even in winter. Most folks think we’re nothing but snow; however, we get over two-hundred-fifty days of sunshine every year. In fact, it got up to sixty-five degrees this past Saturday. This was followed by our annual cold snap. Most of the winter is spent in the twenties and thirties (Fahrenheit), but we get periods into the sixties and sometimes seventies and we have one or two cold snaps which drop to single digits or worse. In this case, it was worse, dropping below zero for the last few days. Today is better, which an expected high in the thirties. It’s already around twenty degrees, much better than yesterday’s high of maybe three degrees.
I had a conversation with my ex-wife a couple of days ago via Yahoo! Messenger. The conversation was mostly about our son, Spaceman. He was very naughty a couple of weeks ago. He stole the ex’s child support card and ordered about three-hundred dollars worth of crap from Amazon. He even expedited some of it. The ex was understandably upset when it happened, and she put all the stuff he got aside, hoping to find a way to return most or all of it. Spaceman wasn’t done being bad, though. He went into the room it was kept and opened up several packages so he could play with whatever they contained. Sigh. That means I get to give him a good talking to. Further conversation with the ex revealed this is only the worst of his recent behavior.
Meanwhile, Spaceman is scheduled to go in for another catscan shortly. My insurance will not kick in until March 1, so my ex will have to cover it all herself. She has promised to let me know the results. I cannot say how frightening it is to have a child under twenty going through a catscan to learn what’s going on with his tumor.
We also chatted briefly about Danny. The anniversary of his death is later this month, and it’s haunting both of us more with each passing day. The ex’s shrink has said this is normal and expects it to get much worse. The ex said we are likely to relive the emotions of that day. I hope to avoid that, but it’s one of those things one doesn’t really get a say in. I am working that day, so maybe that will help some. Probably not, though, as I was also working the day it happened.
Going on to happier things, my virtual worlds have been good this past week. Boomshakalaka hit level 90 in EverQuest and started getting AA points again. Said points are coming in fast; those with less points earn them quicker than those with more.
In my other virtual world, Perfect World, I bought an outfit for my toon. It has one problem: The colors are random and difficult to customize. I confess I haven’t entirely figured out the coloring system, but it involves getting pigments. These pigments are just as random as the original clothing. I don’t know if that makes a difference; when I brought up the coloring interface it didn’t say a particular pigment was required. It would make sense I should use a specific color, but I don’t honestly know if that’s true.
That’s all I have today. I will have a lovely poem for you tomorrow. See you then.
