Today is a Happy day.  For the past few weeks I have had something to do on Thursday evenings, something which (gasp!) took me out of the house.  Tonight, however, I have exactly zero out-of-the-house plans.  This means I can stay at home and join my Thursday night EverQuest raid from the beginning for the first time in months!  Yay!  Also, Sony, the company which makes EQ, has decided to let players buy additional character slots.  This means a maximum of eleven characters per server for each player instead of eight.  I have three accounts, so my total maximum can increase to thirty-three.  Yes, I was obsessed enthused enough about the game to create and give all twenty-four of my characters some play time, but there is no such thing as too much so I will be buying the extra slots.  I bought three yesterday and will get the other six next payday.

I think I mentioned last week that in getting my new motherboard replaced I misplaced the backplate for it.  This is a little piece designed to fit over the connections for things like the built-in sound card, video card, network card, etc.  I contacted the motherboard manufacturer about it, figuring I would pay a few bucks at least for the shipping, but they were kind enough to send me one for free.  So when I finish breakfast–I always eat while blogging and Facebooking in the morning–I will shut my computer down and put the backplate on.  This is easy to do before you put a motherboard into place–it just snaps in–but since this is post-placement, I’ll have to unscrew the motherboard, move it aside just a little bit, put the plate in place, and then reattach the motherboard to the case.  Whee, fun.

Meanwhile, the holiday season is fast approaching.  Holiday number one–the unofficial, non-government-sponsored one–is Halloween, and Sam was kind enough to get me a little pumpkin for my desk at work.  Since I am a nerd and my job is technical support, I am going to write the binary ASCII code for a parenthesis for the mouth (smile-shaped) and the binary ASCII code for the letter O for each of the eyes.  Yes, I am weird.

That’s all I have for today.  See you tomorrow.
