Nothing Day! (Kittens, Work, EverQuest)
Well, 2010 is finally drawing to a close. The week leading up to its end has been fairly quiet for me. The kittens had a vet appointment yesterday which, unlike the previous one, was relatively inexpensive. Kivuli is now on the PetSmart healthcare plan and both she and Sylvie are having eye issues. Fortunately, the same eye cream will work for both.
Today is my one day off from work this week. I will work tomorrow, which will be overtime for me since I don’t usually work Fridays, as well as Saturday, which I usually do. The Christmas Eve call volume last week was pretty much what I expected, but the Christmas Day volume was a bit higher, which I did not expect. So I have no idea what New Year’s Eve and Day are going to be like at work.
Meanwhile, my contracting agency screwed up and did not pay me for the overtime last week. I called them in the morning and they straightened it out, and the difference was directly deposited this morning. I ordered some stuff from Amazon yesterday and one more thing today. Yesterday included a few videos, a new webcam (the one I got last week I am giving to Sam) and a video card. This card is identical to the one already in my system and will be card number two of three. You may recall the motherboard I bought last summer is capable of handling three cards. The cards are about $150, give or take depending on Amazon’s daily price fluctuations, and each handles two monitors. With two cards in the system I can have up to five monitors if I use the onboard video as well. I may add a fourth monitor to my system as I have one available, but I will not likely add a fifth for some time. The monitors I want to eventually add are not cheap and there are other things I want more, such as the summer vacation with my surviving children.
In EverQuest, things continue to move along well. The newest expansion’s zones have proved to be very good places for experience points. Shaka has been earning them hand over fist, and is well past where I hoped her to be on AA points this month. Boom and Dan are doing well, too, and I have high hopes Boom will hit level 88 today or tomorrow. Shaka is also making good progress on the new expansions plethora of tasks. She is two tasks away from completing all of one zone’s tasks. One of those tasks is long, drawn out and a bit messy and the other requires a fairly rare item, but I am certain I will get both done in the next week. Once I do, I will probably backtrack with her and Boom and Dan and finish another zone’s tasks. The zones, if they were numbered, would not have the current zone I have been focusing on listed as number one, and I want to go to the one which would be numbered as such and move forward from there. Shaka will probably do other zones as well simply because the people I usually group with will move into the higher zones.
And that, as they say, is that. Tomorrow, as I promised earlier in the week, will have the usual bit of verse followed by a month-by-month review of the crappy year which was 2010. I will post my 2011 goals on Saturday. I have not had a Saturday post at this URL yet, so it will be a first on the first. Happy Holidaze!
