Nothing Day! (Exercise, Server, EverQuest, Monitor)
I exercised today. And I exercised on Tuesday. That makes twice in one week, which is exactly what I planned. Next week I will go for three days of exercise, and in a row: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. My ankles were unhappy both times I exercised this week; the jumping jacks were a little rough on them. I increased the number of jumping jacks I did, which may be part of the problem. I will probably increase those a little more next week. Also, I am going to get an exercise mat, as the kitchen floor where I have been exercising…well, I want something softer and cleaner.
Meanwhile, I made more progress with my dedicated server. I had been struggling to get things to compile–a process I may yet complete–but early this week I got it into my head to install a GUI and remote control server software. I succeeded in both, and then I connected to it. With the GUI, I was able to install the tools I needed for the goal I have in mind, which is running Java servlets. Initially, I will have a servlet running to intercept messages for the Checkers program I am writing, keeping one player in contact with another. Eventually, I hope to write more complicated stuff.
I have been obsessed in EverQuest lately with my “babies.” By that I mean the much lower level characters I created when SOE decided to allow three more character slots per account. I have been leveling one particular trio, and they are now level 46 and getting better daily. When they hit level 60, I will stop and then work on the second “new” trio, and then the third. These other trios are currently at level 20. Once they are all at level 60, I’ll return to the progression I was doing before with my alts, as those trios are at 60 or 65. At that point, I will go in five level increments, one trio at a time.
I ordered and yesterday received my sixth regular monitor. By “regular” I mean it matches the size and resolution of five of the ones I already had, allowing me to have the six-matched-monitor configuration I have wanted for quite some time. (Currently, the upper-right monitor is smaller with a lesser resolution.) I’ll be installing the new monitor either tonight or tomorrow morning, and at the same time I’ll be putting a fan (as in something on a stand which blows air around) behind my computer. I am doing these at the same time as the computer is on the right side of my desk, so Sam or I will be back there anyway to put the monitor in place. This leaves one more monitor I want, and that’s a touchscreen, but it will be some time before I get that. My next wish list / save for item is a multi-disk Blue Ray player. They don’t make smaller ones, so I am going for a three or four hundred disk player. Yes, that’s expensive, so it will be awhile.
That sums up the past week. See you tomorrow with a bit of poetry.
