Last week’s Nothing Day post was really long, but I think today’s will be kinda short.  It’s hard to compete with talking about the awesome vacation I had.

The vacation is over, though, so it’s back to work.  We had a shift bid at work, and after a lot of deliberation I decided to stay with my current shift, 1400 – 2230 Saturday through Wednesday.  Officially, the new shifts start on Friday, although this doesn’t affect me much with the lack of change in hours.  The only thing that does affect me is that as the schedule stands, I will be by myself on Sundays from 1830 – 2200.  That’s assuming I manage to go to lunch on time (1800), which should usually happen but sometimes calls come in at bad times.  One of my co-worker’s schedule may be shifted a bit so I am not on my own.  We’ll see.

Also, I did my first duty as a Team Lead at work:  I attended a meeting on Monday.  It was interesting, and I got information before most of my co-workers.  One thing that came up was it’s time for another raffle at work.  We do this every few months, spending the play money we get for doing good on raffle tickets.  We decided on a digital camera, so I took the one I bought for my vacation into work on Tuesday.  After seeing it and seeing what it could do, the bosses decided that would be the perfect raffle prize.  I will only be spending a couple of play money dollars as I already have one.  If I win….I’ll either gift it to somebody or eBay it.

Meanwhile, I have started yet another exercise program.  This time I am starting out by just walking.  I circled two blocks on Monday and Wednesday, and today I went for an hour’s walk on a city trail.  (Actually, it was about seven or eight minutes over an hour!)  I spaced doing it on Tuesday.  Going forward, my plan is for a two block circle Monday through Wednesday and Friday with a long trail walk on Thursday.  Next week the Thursday walk will be an hour and I hope to increase my circles to two.  The week after that I hope to increase my trail time to ninety minutes, and then to two hours about three or four weeks after that.  I will increase my circles to three in a few weeks and then four and maybe even five in a couple of months.  I bought a “hydration pack” thing to keep me hydrated.  It’s one of those water bladders you wear on your back.

This past Saturday was my birthday, and I had a date with a church friend.  She surprised me by having another church friend meet us at the movie theater.  She wanted more to show up, but she only tried at kind of the last minute and only got one person with a free schedule.  After the movie–Cowboys and Aliens, which I enjoyed greatly–we went to dinner at Ruby Tuesday’s.  Dinner was just the two of us, but earlier, after she picked me up and before we got to the theater, she said she didn’t see it as a date.  Sigh.  We were supposed to go out today, but her schedule filled up.  She said we may be able to go out again in a couple of weeks.

That, then, was my week.  See you tomorrow.
