Love, Dad

Dear Son

Happy Birthday to you
Today you would have been
Twenty-one
Had you let yourself live
You ended your life
But in my heart you live on
And so on this day
The anniversary of your birth
I honor you death
By celebrating your life
I shall try to rush
Wherever I go
No burden will slow me
No matter how great it might be
I’ll notice the trees
And other natural things
Although I will avoid
Any bees I might see
You may be gone
But never forgotten
In my heart
And your mother’s heart
And the hearts of your siblings
And the hearts of your grandparents
And the hearts of anyone else you ever met
You live on

Love, Dad
