Why does the snow blow?
I think it is to slow me
Sunshine will clear the way

I decided today to try to do a purer form of haiku than I usually do.  The meter is 5-7-5, and the subject is supposed to be nature.  Most of the time I–and I think most other Americans, at least–use the form for other subjects.  Technically, such other poems are called senryū,  Actually, the distinctions go a bit deeper than that; Wikipedia’s article is helpful on the subject.

In case you’re curious, by the way, it snowed last night.  Thus, the inspiration for today’s poem.
